IHSA offers several scholarships for the students that participate in intercollegiate competition:
The Jon Conyers Scholarship:
This is a scholarship for riders who are of either Freshman or Sophomore standing, in their first or second year competing in IHSA. Riders must be in Walk- Trot, Beginning Walk- Trot- Canter, Beginning Horsemanship, or Intermediate Horsemanship.
There are two awards for long time IHSA members. The first is an award for any member that meets the membership requirements and has higher than a 3.5 GPA. The second is an essay contest open to those who qualify for the first award, with a prize of $500 dollars.
EQUUS Foundation Champions
The EQUUS Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life of horses, enabling the therapeutic use of horses for those in need, fostering the horse-human bond, and educating the public about the horse's unique ability to empower, teach and heal.
As a volunteer, you can earn Champion status by volunteering 24 hours during the calendar year.
This makes you eligible to win: A grant from IHSA's scholarship program, $1,000 scholarship from IHSA, or $1,000 Scholarship from EQUUS.
All Academic Award
This award is to recognize the academic achievements of the members of IHSA teams. Nominated IHSA members will be named to either the First or Second All- Academic Team
First Team: 3.8 or higher GPA
Second Team: 3.5 or higher GPA
T. McDonald Scholarship Challenge
This is a free test that is open to all IHSA members. The top two scores from each zone are sent to nationals for a practicum portion of the test. First place at nationals wins $1,000 dollars.
This is a scholarship that is awarded to IHSA members. The application must be filled out and submitted to the Region President.
